Meet the Artist: Rebecca Gorzynska
Rebecca Górzyńska
I am a freelance illustrator and artist specializing in narrative and sacred artwork influenced by European folktales and myths, medieval themes, and classic 20th-century fairytale illustrators.
I love to paint mothers and babies, fine ladies and mermaids with vibrant colors and skies full of stars. I paint with watercolor, gouache, and paper, alongside digital illustration on my iPad. My goal is to create art that sparks your imagination!
Selected Clients & Illustration Work
I am available for personal commissions and commercial publishing artwork. My past commercial partnerships include creating extensively researched illustration work and specialized layout assets for books and novelty publications:
- Gather & Pray – Lead illustrator for an ongoing collection of interactive children’s books and educational resources. Projects include:

Roots, Music, & Years in Poland
Before I made the transition to visual art, my background was in music — I hold a degree in vocal performance. I continue to sing occasionally, which is such a joy, and recently have been teaching myself to play the mountain dulcimer. I also spent nine years living in Poland, where most of my children were born. Polish folk art and costumes, and the novels of Henryk Sienkiewicz, which I first read as a young teen, are another influence on my art.
Today, I balance my time in the studio (which is actually just an extra table near a brightly-lit window, or the sofa when I’m working on my iPad or cross stitching) with raising my kids, running on coffee and a tight schedule of after bedtime and while everyone is in school.
My Process: 100% Human Art
I am committed to authentic, human-made art. I work in both digital and traditional media, either digitally painting over scanned pencil drawings, or painting traditionally with watercolor, acrylic ink, and gouache, as well as colored pencil and pastel pencils.

Cross Stitch Design
My love for cross stitch began in 2020, and I designed my first pattern in 2021. Since then, I’ve published 13 original designs. (Though unfortunately, when left to my own devices, I am a notoriously distractable stitcher—my massive Stella Maris project has been abandoned at 99.5% for far too long while I stitch unrelated projects!)

My commissions are open for custom portraits, religious art, and commercial bookish illustration.
